Statutory Assumptions & Calculation Parameters (FY 2024–2026)
In India, Cost to Company (CTC) represents the total annualized cost an employer incurs for an employee, comprising direct earnings (Basic, HRA, Special Allowances) and statutory contributions. This calculator applies the following statutory rules:
1. EPF Wage Ceiling (₹15,000)
Under the Employees' Provident Funds Scheme, 1952, statutory EPF contributions are mandatory on basic wages up to ₹15,000/month (12% = ₹1,800/month). Employers may elect to cap employee/employer contributions at ₹1,800 or deduct 12% on full basic wages.
2. ESIC Wage Ceiling (₹21,000)
Under the Employees' State Insurance Act, 1948, coverage is applicable only if the employee's monthly gross wage is ₹21,000 or less (0.75% employee deduction, 3.25% employer contribution). Above ₹21,000/month, ESIC is ₹0.
3. Section 16 Standard Deduction (₹75,000)
Reflects the Union Budget (Finance Act 2024 amendments) standard deduction of ₹75,000 for salaried employees under the New Tax Regime (Section 115BAC), providing tax relief compared to previous ₹50,000 limits.
4. State Professional Tax (PT) Slabs
Professional Tax is state-legislated (Article 276 of the Constitution of India), capped at ₹2,500/year. Standard ₹200/month deduction applies for Karnataka, Maharashtra (₹300 in Feb), Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. States like Delhi and Haryana levy zero PT.
